  Course Description :
This course is designed for non-native speakers of Thai to learn to communicate Thai language in daily life at a beginner level. The course provides introduction to Thai sounds system, useful Thai words and sentences, basic Thai grammar, Thai conversations in various situations in everyday life, special tips for common Thai language use, and Thai culture. Learners will develop their listening and speaking skills in Thai language while reading and writing skills are not required in this course.

Target participants in  the course:

  • Students (High school and university students who are studying either in Thailand or abroad, up to an  estimated number of 2,000 persons)
  • People who are working or studying in Mahidol University (Foreigners who are interested in learning the Thai language such as instructors or researchers who work in Thailand and interested to learn the Thai language for communication in daily life, up to an estimated number of 200 persons)
  • Others (Foreign tourists who will come to Thailand for travelling and are interested to learn the Thai language for communication in daily life, up to an  estimated number of 3,000 persons)

 

Target participants in  the course:

Thai vocabulary and abilities in reading, writing and speaking Thai are not required before taking this course. Knowledge of English language and its grammatical structures will be useful but not vital.

 

Learning objectives (LO):

  • LO1: To be able to listen and discriminate between Thai consonant sounds, vowel sounds, and tones  correctly
  • LO2: To be able to produce the speech sounds in Thai with the correct consonant sounds, vowel sounds, and tones
  • LO3: To be able to communicate in the Thai language with the correct Thai sentence structure and grammar
  • LO4: To be able to communicate in the Thai language in daily life fluently enough in both listening and speaking skills
  • LO5: To be able to answer the questions about Thai cultures and traditions

  Assessment:

Learners will receive the electronic certificate authorized by the university if they pass all the assessment with a score of not less than 70%
